- Bleach - untitled by Moonsheen - [Note: SPOILERS for chapter 179, both in the fic and this rec.] ....Byakuya and Hisana. Oh, my god, love. So, so, so much love. As soon as I read chapter 179, it all made so much sense to me and I adored the idea and I wanted fic for it, I craved fic for it, and Moonsheen writes it beautifully here. There's a certain elegance and charm to this story that makes it a brilliant read, it's everything I imagined the characters to be, both Byakuya and Hisana absolutely perfect here. The chemistry between them that's muted, but I still felt it, and everything, everything, from the imagery to the relationship dynamics, everything was so beautiful here. I love this fic with a painful sort of intensity. *__* (Byakuya/Hisana.)

- Bleach - untitled by naifun - OMG, you have no idea what a weakness I have for Hisana pieces, because I am in love with the Byakuya/Hisana relationship and I find her character to be fascinating. This was an absolutely lovely story about her time in the Kuchiki house, the way so many people loved her, even in that stuff environment she still had this soft, gentle grace. But the author never had to say that, there was no telling, it was all about the showing, the somehow creating this soft, gentle atmosphere to the entire piece. I just felt it. This was so lovely. (A little Byakuya/Hisana implied, but blink and you'll miss it.)

- Bleach - For Love by poutonly - Heeheehee. Oh, this was such fun. I have a strong love of Bleach crackfic (that's not crack in the sense that you wonder what the author was smoking, because I do really like the background pairing), but I also love it when the entire cast (just about) can fit into the story for a reason. And, oh. Oh, the ending was priceless and perfect and how, how I would seriously consider paying money to see the in-between moments written because it would have been so, so beautiful. I'm grinning just thinking about this story, I love the ending, and everyone should read. ( warnings would be telling. >D)

- Bleach - Gravity by lit_chick - I'm not sure I'm onboard with the ending of this fic, it feels rather sudden, but I really adored the first three-fourths of it, the way the beautiful, elegant imagery really fit with the characters and the Bleach manga style. The quiet, but meaningful dynamic between Rukia and Byakuya is laden with all those things that are unspoken between them in the manga, the way you could practically feel them. The writing is lovely and the characterization otherwise solid, that way both characters have to them very present. It was a pretty read. (A little Byakuya/Rukia.)

- Bleach - Only a Story by Branch - [Note: This fic contains spoilers for chapter 181 and above.] Once again, I am delirously in love with this story, because Emily writes a story here that is both incredibly, amazingly in line with the style of the Bleach characters and keeps that amazing subtlty that's needed for a scene between Byakuya and Rukia. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love that they're moving forward in a believable way, I love the details put into this fic (the quick descriptions of the flowers and the way the two of them stood over them somehow so clearly brought to mind Kubo Tite's writing style), but it's the atmosphere between Rukia and Byakuya that had me nearly floating around the room in utter bliss with this story. More than that both characters are beautifully intact, it's the relationship between brother and sister that took my breath away, it was the way Byakuya talked about Hisana that hit me square in the chest, it was the way there was such weight to everything he said, the way Rukia looked at him and answered him, the way... just, jeez, I am explaining this so badly. It's just so gorgeous and elegant and I love it with the kind of passion that brings a twinge to my chest. (References to Byakuya/Hisana, but this is more gen than anything.)

- Bleach - traitor to impostor by Zau - [Note: There may be spoilers in both the fic and this rec, for the end of the Soul Society arc.] Oh, lovely, lovely interaction between Byakuya and Rukia and the way Byakuya/Hisana affected him and Zau continues to bring her ability to write these beautifully delicate scenes that somehow pack this amazing punch every time I read. The tension (both good and bad and... interesting) between them, the way Byakuya makes Rukia feel, the way I feel what he makes her feel, the way the Byakuya characterization is just absolutely gorgeous. It hits that perfect line between the sibling relationship between these two characters and the Something Else that's there after he tells her about Hisana and I just... flail. So much. (References to Byakuya/Hisana.)

- Bleach - The Dark by seppuku_doll - [Note: There may be spoilers in this fic for anime-only people.] Oh, this was a lovely, beautiful little fic about Byakuya and Hisana and it had all this delicate, graceful imagery to it, quiet and understated, but still so depthful and touching, just like exactly what this pairing called for. The quiet way Hisana would undo his hair at night, the way you can feel how much he loves her, even without him saying a word about it or his expression probably changing one iota, the way the meaning-laden silence is used beautifully in this fic. I just... flutter over this. (Byakuya/Hisana.)

- Bleach - diary by Zau - As I slowly crawl back to the Bleach fandom, it is stories that are written like this that make me fall in love all over again, because there is a certain beauty to it that reminds me of the manga. I say this every time with Zau's writing because it's true every time, because it hits me like the air being pulled from my lungs every time. Even when I should be prepared for it, Rukia and Byakuya and Hisana's characterization has this amazing weight to it, just like the series itself. All these amazing details as Rukia reads over Hisana's journal, as she sees these snapshots (the description of Rukia's impressions of the diary were perfect, beautiful in the way it brought everything to my mind's eye) of Hisana's life, of everything it means between Byakuya and Rukia themselves. Some days, I suspect that Byakuya and Rukia might be my favorite relationship of the series, after a fic like this it's hard to remember anything that could have affected me more. (References to Byakuya/Hisana.)

- Bleach - The World's Spring by kenbu - Oh, how I ache for Byakuya and Hisana some days, especially after a beautiful piece like this. The longing and love he feels for her is just so present, the way I couldn't not feel it, the way it's anything but uncomplicated when it's so simple. The characterization is wonderful, it maintains Byakuya's seriousness even while you see far past the surface he shows the rest of the world. The imagery is lovely, something almost delicate about it in that way that characterized their entire relationship. Very pretty, bittersweet writing. (Byakuya/Hisana.)

- Bleach - Coma by twelve - There is something in the writing or the imagery of this fic that pulls at me, something in the heavy, silent but not oppressive tone of this fic that makes me feel it. Maybe it's because I associate that style with a pairing like Byakuya/Hisana or maybe I'm just easy for the pairing or maybe I simply just like the author's writing, whatever the reason I really enjoyed this fic. I liked the descriptions, the touches of sakura or hands wrapped around wrists or the calm expression with a tender look in eyes. I liked the theme of love, the way I thought it fit with what little we know of Hisana and... so much of it was that it made me feel bittersweet about their marraige, it wasn't loud or attention-getting, but there was something weighted and real there for both of them. Or maybe I'm just being a dippy fangirl who's a little too in love with their marraige. XD (Byakuya/Hisana.)

- Bleach - Leaving by The Dream Whisperer - This was... there are certain fics that I read and it's not so much the characterization or the imagery used (though, they were also both lovely), but a certain intensity that leaves me feeling with that faint, dull ache in my fangirl heart because the story gripped me so hard. It helps, of course, that I adore Byakuya's character, but it's so much more than that, it's the anger and loss he feels throughout his life. Byakuya is such a strong character, but there's so much rawness to him here and it works. All of the people he knows and has connections with and they're not just people who ghosted through his life, they have effects on him and just.... He's outwardly polished and it's not like he's screamingly different on the inside, instead this fits together with the character I saw, explains what he went through (because he was very clearly not just the block of ice that he seemed to be on the surface), such willpower here and... god, the intensity of it, the beauty of the writing just makes me fall for the character all over again. This is really a terrible sort of rec, just go read the fic instead, especially if you're a fan of Byakuya and his relationship with Rukia. (Mentions of Byakuya/Hisana, perhaps Byakuya/Rukia in a completely gen way.)

- Bleach - Celestial Incandescence by kenbu - I've mentioned many times how I love Byakuya and Hisana, how I pine for more fic for them, so to see such a... pretty imagery-laden fic always makes me put it at the top of my reading pile and I'm glad I do so. There's a certain... elegance to the writing here, partially from the details of clothing or tea cups or shoji screens, but partly because of the way Byakuya is so calm and has that... still waters run deep sort of feel to the character. There is an intensity to Byakuya's characterization, one that comes without loud gestures or grand speeches, instead it's shown through his quiet determination and the sense of hope and light Hisana brings to his life. And, well. I just adore the ending imagery, of nighttime and fireflies and ponds and star-strewn skies and Byakuya and Hisana together after their wedding. *happy fangirl* (Byakuya/Hisana.)

- Bleach - Letting Go by The Dream Whisperer - ....oh. I think this may be the author's strongest fic yet. She has a strong love for Byakuya's character, you can tell it in the way she writes him, in the way the focus is often on his character and there's a certain gravity to the character, but I think this may be the author's strongest work yet. I found Byakuya's characterization to be achingly good here, his love for Hisana, his grief for her that never breaks the surface, the strength and weakness of his character, there's such a... fluid quality to everything, while still being unbending. I'm not sure how else to describe it. And... the final few paragraphs of this story are beautiful, both for the imagery (oh, the imagery could have been so cliche, with the blood, but instead it was gorgeous) and for the emotion of it. I. I. I flail with love, really. (Byakuya/Hisana.)

- Bleach - Broken Smile by allira_dream - One of my favorite things about Bleach is the Byakuya/Hisana - Byakuya/Rukia relationships, the way it's such a finely webbed, easily tangled thing and this fic captures that beautifully. The first half is one of the prettiest Byakuya/Hisana fics that I've read recently, one that fits so well with how I saw them in canon. The way they were such a quiet pairing, sad but with real love there, not soul-crushingly depressing, but almost gracefully tragic. That is Byakuya/Hisana to me, whatever this fic is, despite my inability to put into words. The Byakuya/Rukia is lovely as well, skating that line between seeing her sister and seeing herself, between something more and something familial. Very pretty. (Byakuya/Hisana, implications of Byakuya/Rukia if you lean that way.)

- Bleach - Uncoiling the Snow by lurk_stiltzkin - This fic combined so many of my favorite things when it comes to Bleach, at least in relation to Byakuya--his marraige to Hisana and his relationship with Kaien. It's a beautifully written piece, there's something almost delicate about the style and the imagery, something that's still on the surface, but with a deep well of intensity, very much suited to a character like Byakuya. And, yet, for all that I get that impression of the fic, it's from Kaien's point of view and he is characterized perfectly. You can see how very loud he is, how he comes off as an idiot, but he's really not. What a good-natured person he is and how he can get along with someone like Byakuya and, god the parallels in this fic are beautiful--Kaien, Byakuya, Hisana, Rukia, Ichigo, all of is so understated that I didn't even think of it until the fic was over. There's a richness to the detail of this piece that fits so well with canon that my fangirl heart fluttered for it. (Byakuya/Hisana, but that's only half the point.)

- Bleach - these happy golden years by acesodapop - The language the author uses in this fic is just gorgeous, which is so fitting for a pair like Byakuya and Hisana. Which is one of my favorite aspects, I love when imagery can be tragic and beautiful without feeling overwraught. But it's also... Hisana is a bit of a mystery, how much she loved Byakuya, how much she was still holding other things in her heart, and this fic does a beautiful, so very beautiful, job of balancing those two aspects of her. She is both of those things and then Byakuya is so... Byakuya and I cannot help but want to sigh breathily in that fangirl way as they are such the OTP for me. ....shut up. (Byakuya/Hisana.)

- Bleach - The Key to Everything by Goldberry - This was one of those pieces that focused on simple things, on the subtle movements a character like Byakuya makes, yet captured so much of what happened beneath the still waters above, both with Hisana and Rukia. It's a really beautiful piece that says so much more than the words specifically say. ....and shut up, that totally made sense to me. (Some Byakuya/Hisana implications.)

- Bleach - Permanence by mikan - I went back and forth on this story a little, my biggest quibble being that the impression the manga left with me is that Hisana deliberately abandoned Rukia because she couldn't support both of them, not because she had to leave Rukia behind or they would be killed. But the writing of the story was just so lovely that I couldn't put it down, even when that sort of different take from mine (which isn't a bad thing at all, mind, everyone has their own take on events that aren't fully explained in a series) usually distracts me away from a fic. The characterization of Hisana, someone who is delicate and very nearly frail, yet still has such spirit and grace to her, is very much what I imagined she must be like, the situation she finds herself in grows more intriguing with every chapter, and I want to know what the author is plotting out there. There's such a lovely use of imagery and Japanese culture in this fic, woven together with the actual story (which is also just as fascinating as the rest of it) and such beautiful language that I find myself wishing the author had written more stories, the fandom could use more authors like this. (Eventual Byakuya/Hisana?)

- Bleach - Love until it hurts by izkariote - I don't know if this is the direction I usually lean in with Byakuya/Hisana (that she didn't return his affections) but I don't know that I don't lean this way, either, because I have no set definition on their relationship. So, it's interesting to read something like this that does feel right to me in a lot of ways, no matter how much it hurts, because it's so... Hisana, even though she doesn't love him the way he loves her, has some affection for him and she tries hard. The writing is lovely and it's bittersweet, but in the way it should be. Ouchy, but a good read. (Byakuya/Hisana.)

Bleach: Broken Smile by allira_dream - Oh, this was a beautiful piece, set from Byakuya's point of view, about Hisana and Rukia, which I never get tired of when it's done in this really elegant, lovely way. I love how... strongly I felt that this was Byakuya, that he was still waters that ran deep, how much he loved Hisana and how tragic they were but it wasn't entirely empty, how Rukia is not Hisana, even as she reminds him of her in so many ways. The two scenes set back to back like this was a lovely way to show that, too. <3 (Byakuya/Hisana.)

Bleach: In The Margins by rii_no_ame - I clicked on this fic randomly, just curious to see what kind of author and fic I would get when I saw there was a new Byakuya/Hisana fic. And this was a beautifully written piece, very graceful and almost delicate in the way Byakuya first catches Hisana's attention, the way she catches his attention, and the little details to how their relationship progressed. I love how much happiness there is here, in what's still a tragic story in so many ways, how much real love there was between them even as she could never let go of thoughts of Rukia. It was a beautiful piece, heartbreaking in all the right ways, and it made me dearly wish for, idk, reincarnation fic because fic like this makes me want so much for these two. (Byakuya/Hisana.)
