- Bleach - untitled by Sadieko - OMG, OMG! ZARAKI AND YACHIRU FIC! Zaraki and Yachiru that's cute and bloody and in character and I have the dumbest grin on my face after reading this. It's the kind of fic that doesn't pull punches with Zaraki's character, he's still as much of a scary, insane bastard as ever, but the relationship with Yachiru is still just as sweet as ever, the fic maintains that perfect balance that the manga was so brilliant at. And there are so many quotable lines in this, too, with all these lovely images of their relationship. Just... massive squeeing over here, so don't expect a decent rec. (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Bleach - Father Knows Best by Celeste - So, I have this weakness for Zaraki and Yachiru fic, yes? Because they're so... perfect together, somehow, and this fic is such a great example of that. Because Zaraki would be the best and worst daddy figure ever and it totally works and is hilarious and I totally laughed at the ending line of this because HAHAHAHAHA YEAH THAT'S HOW IT WOULD GO. Loved this. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Bleach - Formal Reporting Made Easy by Celeste - I... I... I... I don't even know where to begin, I just... by the time this was down, I was practically laughing my ass off because there's just something about Zaraki being a pain in everyone's ass, in such a manner as through the reports he's forced to write, that amuses me so greatly. I think it was the reports that captured the tone of voice so well that sent me over the edge, really. Plus, it's Zaraki and Yachiru is in the background. I love them. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Bleach - Little Girls Are Made Of by Celeste - [Note: This fic and rec may contain spoilers if you're anime-only.] I should probably save this for the drabbles page, because it's barely over 300 words, but... it's Aizen and Hinamori and it's perfect, so I had to rec it properly. Because Aizen is so nice here, until you realize how scary he is and that just makes me love him more. Because little Momo-chan is still just a child, as strong as she is, and he loves children because they're sweet and innocent and so very easy to mold exactly how you want. Plus, the ending line packs a solid punch. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Bleach - Suffer Not Idiots by WhiteCat - GENIUS. No, really. Yachiru DATING and it's not just good, it's GENIUS. I mean, the idea was probably bound to come up with several authors, but not all of them were going to be the kind that were just absolutely pitch-perfect and did beautiful, beautiful justice to Zaraki's... well, Zaraki-ness. But this one? Oh, this one knocked it out of the park right from the very beginning. I mean, I started grinning like mad three paragraphs in and I don't think I stopped the entire time, because it was the kind of humor that fits in well with the storyline, that does brilliant justice to the characters, but without having to trot over to parody to make jokes. It was in character and it was Zaraki noticing that Yachiru had started noticing boys and brilliantly paced/framed, so that the whole thing had this gorgeous flow to it and, oh my god, the details, the Idiot Fund! THE IDIOT FUND, HEE HEE HEE. Seriously, Zaraki is the best Scariest Daddy Ever and WhiteCat did an awesome job with the whole thing. (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Bleach - Bedtime Stories for Little Girls by Celeste - Okay, so I'm skipping ahead in my progression through Celeste's drabbles, but it's Zaraki and Yachiru and I love them and it wasn't even until I opened it to read to notice the dedication note! ♥ ♥ ♥ I just... oh, my god, I love Zaraki and Yachiru and the utter casualness that they tear through a gang of bandits with, the way Yachiru is so completely unaffected, yet still a cute little girl and Zaraki doesn't have any style and is the Best Scariest Daddy Ever. I think it was about halfway through when Yachiru told him to poke at one of the not-quite-dead bodies to see if they had a book for a bedtime story where I just utterly lost it because they're so freaking great. Hee hee hee hee. XD XD XD (No warnings/pairings.)

- Bleach - Counting Clouds by Sophia Prester - Zaraki and Yachiru fic is one of my favorite aspects of Bleach fandom and I'm so glad that... well, there's not a ton of it, but there's certain a fair amount (certainly compared to many other things I'd like from the fandom) and some of it is just astoundingly good. This fic ranges from humorous to sad to incredibly touching and back again, all while having this incredible flow to it. The duality of the themes, one for Zaraki, one for Yachiru, balances out beautifully, the writing is just lovely, the details make sense, the characterization is amazing, and everything about this fic is gorgeous. It's everything you could want from a fic about these two, so many little things that fill in the gaps of the characters but feel like such natural extentions that they could have stepped right out of canon. Such the perfect balance and genuine cleverness of the style and tone of the original series--Zaraki explaining why his division always had perfect paperwork? The jokes about Zaraki would terrorize any boy Yachiru dated? Yachiru's reaction to Renji? All of these are beautiful things. And, oh, god, the bit about Byakuya in #5 was just so brilliantly painful. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Bleach - Bloodstain Yachiru and the Laundry Technician by Angrybee - After having read "Counting Clouds", I wasn't sure that this fic could live up to that one, because it had been so perfect. Especially when the fic started out as being from the point of view of an original character and then as events unfolded... this is going to be a rather vague rec, because I really do not want to spoil the course of reactions you'll go through while reading it. Instead, I will say that I had every reaction the fic was trying to get me to have, by the end, I nearly felt like I'd been through the wringer in the best way possible, and the writing was really wonderful. It's smooth, clean, clear, and the characterization is really well-done. Yachiru is especially spot-on, the original character is likable and empathizable, and just... the whole fic was really good, but the brilliant thing was the realizations. There were about three times I realized something in this fic, each time everything hit me like a ton of bricks, harder than the one before. The last three pages or so are just a beautiful climax as you realize everything the author was building towards and the ending... oh, the ending was perfect. The way it was so satisfying, the way it was everything it needed to be. For that alone, I think this is a must-read fic. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Bleach - The Care and Maintenance of Pets by Ju - I kind of knew I was going to like this fic right from the beginning, just because I like the author and I always like whatever fandom she writes in, but that it was 11th Division retardation on top of that? That was about Yachiru and pets and boys? Even better still. And the fic is lovely, the different boys Yachiru brings home are brilliantly used and the relationship between Zaraki and Yachiru isn't overdone, instead it's beautiful as it should be, and, god, I laughed so incredibly hard at the second boy she brought home and the reaction. Beautiful comedic timing, great details, great pacing, all the usual things one pines for in Zaraki & Yachiru fic. ♥ (No real warnings.)
