- Bleach - Monster on the Outside by kay_willow - As I mentioned in a rec up above, one of the things I like about the Ichigo/Orihime fic that's coming out these days is that it deals with the more complicated, more painful things that would come up in their relationship, especially with Hollow!Ichigo. This is a short scene after the fight with Grimmjow, a way it might possibly go, with Orihime stumbling a little and Ichigo all twisted up inside because he's an emotional retard so much of the time, and it's so them. I love that he doesn't blame her for being scared at first, I love her for working to get past the fear, because that's what's important, not just blindly accepting whatever, and the author does a fantastic job at getting you to feel the emotions right along with the characters. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - As Simple As Fried Rice by kay_willow - I-- I don't know what I'm going to do when I run out of Bleachfic to read or even just run out of Ichigo/Orihime fic to read, because stories like this are so delightful. It's such a simple concept--Ichigo has Tatsuki try to teach him how to cook, while Renji and Rukia tag along--but it's executed beautifully. All the little touches of hilarity that make the Bleach cast so themselves, every moment Renji is mentioned being utterly hilarious (asd;flkjaslk the descriptions of him are perfect), and how they're all bastards even when they're his friends, it's all fantastic. It's such a wonderful group dynamic as Ichigo's trying to cook and they tease him about the whole thing, then topped off with the sweetest, most poignant reason for wanting to learn how to cook, and it's a wonderful little fic. I read it for the Ichigo/Orihime (which was lovely), I loved it for mocking Rukia's Renji's fashion sense. XDDD (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Shade at the Beach by kay_willow - What I like about this fic is the way it presents Orihime, the way Ichigo sees her, the way she's so adorable and so alive, the way she's obviously very sexy and you can see why so many guys would lust after her. But it's done in this really sweet, happy sort of way, which is perfect for a fic with Orihime in it, and I really liked how Ichigo is attracted to her, but still a social retard in so many ways about admitting it. Yet, still they still manage to muddle through a conversation and be all the cuter for it. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Hers on the Inside by kay_willow - This is a companion piece to Monster on the Outside, so you may need to have read that one first for this one to make much sense. While I know that the end of the fight wouldn't turn out this way (I'm a few chapters behind on the manga as I write this, so I'm still at the point where it's theoretically possible, but I don't think you need that element of possibility to enjoy this fic), it's a lovely look on Orihime's fear of Hollow!Ichigo after she saw him for the first time and Ichigo's reaction to her struggle to get past that fear. There's a very sweet connection here, it's adorable while still having so much depth, a depth that increases with every scene they have. This played on all the undertones and histories they have very nicely. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Dreams and Green Hairpins; She Cries by beautifulburn - This is an AU fic that... well, maybe it's not an AU fic, that's sort of the delightful beauty of the piece. There's a dreamy sort of quality to the writing, like everything is seen through a hazy lens, and it makes the idea work--the author didn't try too hard to sell it, didn't go over the top too much, so it was an almost quiet piece, where dreams are hard to hold onto, no matter how many times he's had this dream. The way it could be an AU, the way it could be something else, I'm really charmed by that, and it's a lovely piece. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Finding Her Heart by snowleaf - So, I was feeling brave enough to stumble out into the wilds of FFNET to look for Ichigo/Orihime fic because I needed my fix and I stumbled over this one and it was just... it was adorable and sweet and cute and all the things an Ichigo/Orihime Valentine's Day fic should be. I really liked the characterization of both of them, Ichigo was properly cranky to most people and not exactly sweet to Orihime, but not pissy in the same way. And Orihime was sweet while still being goofy. The characterization really was just completely solid and one of the things that most impressed me was that I really did believe that these two could get their signals crossed so many times, even as Ichigo's own feelings for her slowly started to awaken and he became a little bit more aware of these things, I bought that these characters completely misread each other. And the ending was perfect, I couldn't have asked for anything more adorable. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Five Times by StarFire and Sakura - Just from reading the title, I was pretty sure I knew what this fic was going to be about and I wasn't disappointed. It's an interesting look at five lives Ichigo and Orihime could have lived, five times they were in different places and different times and she always loved him. It's a lovely little fic about that one very interesting, very touching line and, for me, it makes the moment all the more poingnant, all the more sweet. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - A prayer for the dying by Deathberry15 - This was a really sweet, adorable little fic that's simple in concempt and doesn't try to push it too hard. It's just Orihime in front of Sora's grave, telling him about her life, being so positive and sweet about things, even as she clearly still misses him. I liked it for how sweet it was but also because it's nice to have Sora still mentioned, to see his presence is still important in her life, even after so much time and other stuff has passed. Very warm and fuzzy, despite the mild, mild hint of bittersweetness. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Do this for her by Deathberry15 - You could read the above fic as a sequel to this one or they could stand alone, I think. I read them out of order and they both read just fine for me, so I don't think it matters much. This one, like the previous fic, is a bit on the soft and fluffy side, but it works for this pairing because Ichigo is still reluctant and not exactly prone to being friendly, but he's always been a little nicer to Orihime, a little less likely to spaz out at her. It's a sweet, simple fic about Ichigo dressing up in a yukata for the first time in a long awhile, the thoughts and memories that go through his head, and why he's doing this now. It's warm and fluffy, but that suits this pairing, too. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Expectations by El Duque - This is a short little piece about the first time Ichigo and Orihime hug and the writing of it is really quite lovely, the author does a really nice job of getting Orihime's feelings across, the range of emotion she goes through as he holds her desperately and she doesn't let go. It's such a short piece, but the emotion of it is fantastic and there's a lovely sense of intimacy in it that I liked far more than if the author had tried to explain the circumstances around it. Very lovely. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Worries by El Duque - This is actually the second chapter in a series of short fics tied together, but I'm recommending the Ichigo/Orihime one seperately because, w-well. Because I can, I suppose. This was delightful. Ichigo and Orihime's potential sex life is rarely covered in fandom (so far that I've found) and this author did it with humor and... w-well, you kind of wonder if it actually would be like this. I may have laughed out loud at two seperate points in the story, even when it was such a short little thing, but it was really quite funny and I... oh, man, I love Orihime so much. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime, slight implied content warning, I wouldn't put it above a PG-13, though.)

- Bleach - Alarm Clock by El Duque - There's something really rather charming about this fic, set at some point in the future, Ichigo and Orihime married and having a small little restaurant of their own, just a simple life that's happy and peaceful. It's something I could really see for the two of them, the tone of the piece sweet and adorable for the most part. And then a little goofy, because Orihime is weird and that never changes and I just love the image of Ichigo trying to dodge the more painful parts of her weirdness and being entirely unsuccessful at it. XDDD (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Moonlight Melody by ilovejuice - In a way, this almost seems like a simple sort of story, it's just Ichigo and Orihime running into each other, walking home together, talking and taking a short detour, and then going home. But it's the characterization, the little details put into the fic, whether Ichigo's thoughts or Orihime's batshit personality or the way she's sad and lonely a lot of the time, but so Orihime about it and Ichigo... Ichigo is scowly but still nicer to her than he usually is to most people, no matter how weird she is, and... I love that it's not really about romance (except there are obviously feelings there) so much as it is about two people who both have pain and loss in their lives, connecting with each other, understanding each other, and still feeling the loss of their dear ones even as they move on. I loved the little bits of humor thrown in as well, I loved how well the author nailed their personalities and their interaction, they really can be difficult to write, to get the balance just right. But this fic was delightful and I feel that much more satisfied with this pairing for it. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Green Knight by Vialana - I did see the ending of this fic coming, but to be honest I would have been disappointed if it had turned out any other way. It's an adorable fic, it's so delightfully enthusiastic and batshit crazy and so very, very Orihime. It's a wonderful tone for what's going on, the crazy adventure Orihime is on to rescue Ichigo, all the crazy things she has to go through to find him and stop the evil villains from hurting him so they could summon a devil to walk the earth, all the little things that don't quite go as expected. It's adorable and it's not really about romance and yet you can feel how much she cares about Ichigo. And the ending is really just exactly what the fic needed. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Stalwart by Vialana - This is a companion piece to Green Knight, which can mostly stand on its own, but some references might be lost on you if you read it without the other one. This time it's a fic from Ichigo's perspective, something based more in canon events and shows his motivations at the beginning of the Hueco Mundo arc. I like it because it shows so much of what I saw during those chapters, the way Ichigo wasn't precisely thinking of Orihime in romantic terms, but there was a certain something there that was slowly waking, he wanted... something with her. The author's writing is lovely and the characterization is solid and I just. I've been reading a lot of IchiHime fic lately and it still has yet to get old how charmed I am by people actually writing good fic. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Everything is Alright by Mimi Dear - This was a sweet little fic that sort of dumped you into the middle of the story, it was just a quiet moment between Ichigo and Orihime when she's staying at their place for awhile. It's not overly flashy, it's just quiet and a little bit sad, but not depressing. Orihime's feelings for Ichigo are very much a part of her, but she still hides them, and what I liked most about this fic is the way it's so... soft and gentle about the whole thing. Very sweet. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Crush by Brain Cookies - This piece probably would have worked better as a prologue to a longer fic, it felt much like a set-up for something much bigger, rather than a short piece on the Ichigo/Orihime relationship. That aside, I really liked what the author put into the piece, the way the immediate aftermath of the war against Aizen as they come spilling and tumbling back into their own world, and the reactions of everyone around Ichigo felt very Bleach-esque in the way the author handled them. And I liked the wondering question of what they were going to do now, how Urahara wondered what Ichigo would do now as Orihime quietly healed him and things had obviously shifted in dynamic. It's an nice little piece. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Walk Me Home by SirJoshizzle - This is a cute, short little piece where Ichigo walks Orihime home and I think it'll mostly appeal to those who are already fans of the pairing, but I was looking for something warm and fluffy, so this hit the spot with me. It helped that it was... well, the boy carrying the girl home on his back as she leans against him is a shoujo standard and maybe it should be weird with a shounen series, but... for all that Ichigo/Orihime is not a simple shoujo romance, there are times when I like that side of it, too. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Little Wing by Midori Ryuu - This was sweet, the way Ichigo looks at Orihime at the little world that goes on inside her head and how it's... weird and crazy and yet she's so sweet and happy in that craziness. It's a nice way for him to see her and I could see him in this perspective and it's nice to see him thinking about her rather than the other way around. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Productive Development by Kuma-Idle - There are just certain things that I'm always going to be girly and squeeful about in fandom when they're well-written, no matter how old I get. And well-written babyfic is one of those things. (Well, pregnancy fic.) What I love about this one is that it keeps the sense of fun humor of Bleach and I recognize Ichigo as the main perspective of this piece, yet still he's a little older and more ready for this. The sense of connection to everyone in the world around them, all the people that congratulate them or are a part of their lives, the sense of love between the two of them even when it's not really the main focus of the narrative, it's all very wonderful. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Interactions by Kuma-Idle - One of the other things I will probably never get tired of in Bleach fandom is Orihime and Isshin interaction, yesss. I loved this fic because it was actually funny and so very easy to picture and totally did justice to the premise of Isshin and Orihime in the same room with Ichigo's baby videos. Ichigo was fabulously in character, both when he realized what was happening and at the end when he was being nicer again, a fantastic little fic all the way through. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - First Gift by Kuma-Idle - I think this fic would have worked better as part of a larger whole, it feels like it's meant to be part of something bigger (or at least have more build-up), but... I enjoyed the short little fic for what it was at the same time. Perhaps it helped that I'd been reading a bunch of Ichigo/Orihime fics (including several by the author), so I can see how this moment would come about. Orihime very far along in her pregnancy and there's finally a moment when she cracks, just for a moment, because of all the pressure on her and Tatsuki helps her calm down and put herself back together. I liked this look at the future for them that's mostly happy, but there are still hard moments, and it was really kinda sweet. (Ichigo/Orihime implied.)

- Bleach - Changes by MommyRogers - I think what I wound up really liking about this speculative post-Hueco Mundo fic, is the way Orihime confessed her feelings to Ichigo, the promise she made to herself because she thought she'd never go home again and wouldn't have to keep it. It just struck me as something she would do, the way this author wrote it. And I liked Ichigo's perspective in this, the way he's so side-swiped by her feelings and how his immediate reaction is to think that he can't get involved with anyone because danger always finds her and yet-- Well, the fic just worked for me. <3 (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Wedding Invitations by Kuma-Idle - Yet another thing that I will always enjoy for pairings that I want to turn out to be canon is wedding antics in fic, even just planning out the wedding and sending out the invitations. This little fic was really cute and the author did a fun job of capturing the craziness of Soul Society (even if just in Ichigo's imagination XD) and yet why there's still a gentleness to the Ichigo/Orihime relationship. I loved the ending so much, it was just darling and perfect and completely made me happy and squishy on the inside. Shut up. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - The Best Way to Die by snowleaf - I had no idea this was a deathfic when I clicked onto the story, I assumed that Ichigo would find some way for her to live, but... even with the ending, I'm glad I read this fic. There's an almost dream-like quality to the writing, an unnatural sort of calm as she's been stabbed with Gin's zanpakuto, even as the world is fading around her, that I really liked. The imagery of Ichigo being so frantic while Orihime is still in this calm place and getting further and further away really worked for me here, her thoughts as she fades away are lovely and-- it's heartbreaking, sure, but it's also beautiful. (Ichigo/Orihime, deathfic.)

- Bleach - Routine by ashirabe - After the last fic being kind of depressing, I wanted something happier to cheer me up and this fic was delightful for it. Set pre-series (or at least very, very early series otherwise), it's a short little thing about Orihime going to school with some new scratches on her arms and Ichigo stops her to ask her about them. I love this fic because Ichigo does treat her a bit more gently than other people, but not so much that it breaks his character (which is how I find him in the manga, too ♥) and then she spins this tale about her adventures of the previous night and it's-- as;dflkjalskj, it's so Orihime that I loved it. Her batshit is so casual here, it's fantastic. XD (Ichigo/Orihime, possibly. Or it could be gen.)

- Bleach - Hanami by noi-chi - This was a very sweet story and I love fics that don't forget about Sora or how much Orihime has to still miss him, even when things are happier and she has new people in her life and she's made her peace with his death. I liked this fic because Ichigo obviously cares about her a lot, but he's still his usual self and isn't exactly smooth, but still finds a connection with her even after his own loss. I also love this fic because it has so much pretty imagery, I love the use of sakura and kimono for this Hanami fic, I love the way the rest of the cast is in the background being their goofy selves (the hints of Renji/Rukia and maybe-maybe-not Hitsugaya and Matsumoto, both of which could have been gen, didn't hurt my feelings), but mostly I liked it for being a quiet, subtle, and pretty IchiHime fic. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Snow: Reverse the Rain by Thirteenth-Spider - I'm not sure what the deal is with the rest of Orihime's family, you'd have thought they'd have taken her in instead of giving her her own apartment, but I also have no idea how she keeps that apartment, either. Anyway, just idle thoughts. This fic is a sweet little piece about Christmas time (I really love the use of seasonal holidays with Ichigo/Orihime fics) and she's working hard to be upbeat and making plans for her gifts (which are all darling) and she has her moments of weakness, especially when not wanting to be a burden to the rest of the cast, but her conversation with Ichigo here is very sweet and I adore their interaction. I love that it really could have been gen or it could have been something more, too. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Things Seen and Unseen by Akuni-A - This was a really sweet little piece that was a nice little peaceful (well, for the Bleach cast) moment of Rukia, Renji, Ichigo, and Orihime watching a conversation take place between Ishida and Tatsuki and it's just... fun to watch them gossiping about the others in their own way. The Ichigo/Orihime stuff is cute, but I swear Renji and Rukia stole the show with their tardery. But it was delightful all the way around. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime, some Renji/Rukia, and implied Ishida/Tatsuki.)

- Bleach - One Lifetime of Our Five by Hakumei Toshiro - I do wish there had been more to this fic, but the neat thing about it is that each chapter stands on its own (yet still contributes to the larger whole the author is building for Ichigo and Orihime) and the spot it ended on wasn't a bad one at all. It's a series of chapters, told in various pieces across the time of their relationship, not in order, but each one revealing a little more about the larger picture the author has set down for them and it's really kinda cool for that. I love the glimpses into the future of their married life with their little daughter (who was so perfect in the beginning of chapter three, I imagine that's exactly what a daughter of Ichigo and Orihime would be like ♥) while each chapter still focuses on some part of the build-up to that relationship. It's very sweet and the author does a good job with both characters and often includes their friends around them (the inclusion of Nel in the second chapter was one of the best things ever) and gets the feel of the characters down very well. It's sweet and slightly spastic and Ichigo is still cranky while not being a jerk and Orihime is spacey but sweet and delightful. My fangirl heart is happy. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Touch by Kuma-Idle - This is a series of five short ficlets that could be connected or maybe they're not, but they all show an aspect of the relationship between Ichigo and Orihime. They're often very sweet, but there's real sadness and pain underneath them sometimes, too, which is so very much like how they are in canon. The writing is lovely and the little details the author weaves into the writing just make me shimmer at the fics, the characterization just lovely. Even though the fic isn't even quite 2,000 words, it sails right by and yet feels very satisfying to me, I feel content having read these ficlet chapters. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - First-Time Boyfriend by kay_willow - I've been reading a lot of Ichigo/Orihime fic lately and it has yet to stop delighting me that in so many of them, Ichigo obviously cares a great deal about Orihime, he likes her and he's softer with her than most people and he's affected by her, but he never loses that edge of grumpiness that makes him Ichigo. There's something very sweet about this little ficlet, the two of them out together and eating a small snack on the way to last-minute shopping, and the way it says so much about both of them and especially Ichigo who really doesn't know how to deal with all this new stuff. Adorable! an Ichigo sort of way. XD (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - The Christmas Almost-Tragedy by kay_willow - This was adorable, Orihime baking cookies and trying to keep the "creativity" to a minimum and things still out the way they always do, somehow. It was a very nice read for this time of year and the Ichigo/Orihime relationship is so cute and she's still so weird and yet so sweet and I can't help but love her all over again. I really loved the ending especially. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - The Important Day by Mz D - There are a couple of points where this story could be tightened up, but overall I found this story to be utterly CHARMING. The author has a great handle on both Ichigo and Orihime's characters here, the spirit of both of them is intact and I love that the author did a terrific job with Orihime's random daydreams. When she would snap out of them and say something totally random, it was sort of fantastically done--I could believe her batshit train of thought, yet when you look at them from the outside, they seem SO RANDOM, without the author trying too hard. There was a real sort of natural flow to the fic that I loved. Plus, oh, god, they were so cute and sweet and delightful that I kind of fell back into love with them all over again. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - The Freedom of Tradition by Akuni - There are a lot of times when I'm not sure how much certain customs (like two people standing under mistletoe being obligated to kiss) carry over to Japan and I get distracted wondering about that, but with this fic... it was just so cute and adorable and Ichigo was delightful in character that I never really even thought much about it. Both Ichigo and Orihime are adorable, really. I liked the way Ichigo was finally starting to get a sex drive and was totally a social idiot about it, but somehow things worked out, I liked how sweet and adorable Orihime was, and the kiss was totally satisfying for me. I must be in one of those sappy Christmas moods. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Of Pioneering Most Painful by dusted_sunlight - I picked this link up off the ichi_hime comm, though, it's really less of a shipping piece than a story on Orihime's arrival in Las Noches and what's going through her mind as she does. It's a really interesting take on her, the balance between her usual crazy thought patterns, except so much more subdued, and the gravity of the situation she finds herself in. There are all these same crazy fantasies, if quieter than usual, while you can still tell how much she's hurting the entire time, how painful everything here is for her. The imagery the author uses is nice as well, it's a really solid little piece for her. (Some Ichigo/Orihime, but on the level of canon, it's an Orihime piece more than anything.)

- Bleach - Beginner's Luck by breathingblue. - Okay. See. Ichigo/Orihime is my darling pairing. And I love Orihime ridiculous amounts. And I was in a mood for something silly and I stumbled over this short piece and I... I really like the idea of Ichigo being one of those people who is unlucky in cards and then a total dork about it. And Orihime pwning him delights me. XD (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Don't Let Go by cindybin - This is a short, sweet and fluffy piece on Ichigo and Orihime--well, mostly Ichigo coming out of a haze while Orihime heals him and watches over him--and after all the seriousness in the manga lately, it hit the spot for me. Sometimes I like softer, fluffier pieces for these two and this one made me feel better. <3 (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Late Night Fears by kay_willow - [Note: This is a sequel to Late Night Encounters, which is best read first.] I liked the first fic a lot, it played with the depth to and darkness of the Ichigo/Orihime relationship while not making it too angsty, which this fic continued to do. There is a lot to play around with in this relationship, the Hollow part of Ichigo and Orihime's reaction to it can be really fascinating, especially when Orihime doesn't react like other people might. Of course she's afraid, but she's also brave, and I really liked this characterization of her and the way she played off the Hollow part of him. The domesticity at the beginning contrasts very well against the more serious/dangerous second half and it... it really captures so much more of the Ichigo/Orihime relationship for that. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

Bleach: Sunset Kiss by pastdazed - Oh, now this was just really pretty. It's a sweet, laid-back piece, it's set after some fight, where Ichigo is doing up Orihime's wounds and everything is sort of quiet and meaningful, since it's from Ichigo's pov. I liked the atmosphere the author created for them, I liked the use of color, the sunset's oranges and golds, that the author painted with, and I especially liked the way Ichigo saw Orihime. The way her mind worked in crazy loops and he could sort of follow, but sort of not, and how he thought of her. Plus, Orihime is darling in this, she is totally my favorite character in Bleach and fics like this just sort of feed into that. ♥ (Ichigo/Orihime.)
