- Final Fantasy IV - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - So. I'd actually spotted this site a few days ago, but firmly put it aside to wait until I'd actually finished the game, since I didn't want spoilers. Now that I have, I've been going through the pages hungrily because the art is so cute and really smoothly done with a surprising amount of detail for a cutesy style. There's not a ton of FFIV art here (though, there's occasional FFT and FFIII and FFXI art as well), but given that I suspect the j-fandom will be just as small as the e-fandom, I'm not that fussy. The little Rydia ones would be my favorite, except there is a super cute one of Palom and Porom and that instantly became my favorite. I'm hoping the artist will do more of this game, too. <3 (No warnings/pairings.)

- Final Fantasy IV - BlueStar [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site probably isn't going to be for everyone, but I was immediately attracted to it because there was some really cute sketches, some really adorable Rydia illustrations, and then Cecil/Kain art, why hello new favorite FFIV site. ♥ There's quite a lot of art tucked away in various corners here, especially for such a small fandom, and they're more sketch-like than anything, but the colors are very pretty, the artist has a lot of potential, and it's just... fun. There's a certain softness to the lines that is really cute and delightful and charming. Which, in a lot of ways, is exactly what I got from the game/want from the fandom. I mean, there's Dark Knight Cecil smiling down at cute little child Rydia and asdlfkjas;ldj yes. *loves* (Some Cecil/Kain, some gen.)

- Final Fantasy IV - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - There's not a ton of art here, but it really didn't take me very long to fall for the site once I saw Dark Knight Cecil protectively guarding little tiny Rydia, which I am dreadfully weak to. ♥ The style is rather like paintings or colored pencils or maybe watercolors, which is an interesting, cool look for the art here and I wound up really kinda liking it. Not everything is perfect, it's not going to be for everyone, but the patterns on their clothes and in their hair made it an interesting little site to go through. (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Final Fantasy IV - HPD [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - The very first link I clicked onto with this site was one of Golbez's minions, each done in a different setting, surrounded by their elements, and it was really, really pretty. One of the next ones was of Rydia in a beautifully done outfit and Bahamut curling around her in a soft green light, which was also just as smoothly colored and gorgeous to look at. There's also an incredible one of Rosa and a couple of really solidly done comics as well. I wish there were more art here, but each of these illustrations is so much prettier than I expected to find that I'm really pretty satisfied with the site. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Final Fantasy IV - PIO [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site is definitely not going to be for everyone and there's not even a whole lot of art here, but I was kind of instantly won over because the artist draws Rydia so cute sometimes. Very fanservicey at other times, but the art is always smooth and clean and surprisingly detailed. Plus, some of the chibi art is really, really adorable. <3 (Some pairings, but no real themes/warnings.)

- Final Fantasy IV - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I sort of wavered on this site, there was a lot of cute little sketches of the characters, a whole lot of promise (especially with the art of Cecil), but it wasn't quite there yet for me. But it was intriguing enough to keep going. And then I got to the chibi-esque illustration of the Four Fiends and I was kind of totally sold. They're so cute! ♥ The site is probably helped a great deal by how much art there is on the site, it's probably the one I've seen the most art on yet, but I honestly think a lot of the stuff is fun and cute, with a really nice variety of nearly all the main cast. That's enough for me. :D (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Final Fantasy III/Final Fantasy IV - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I was fairly certain that I was going to be recommending this site just from the site design/current top illustration of Rydia, but actually getting into the galleries was even more fun that I was expecting. By about the third link, the one with the group illustration of the FFIII main characters, where they're in various costumes and you can really see the artist's style pull together (such pretty colors! such clean and detailed lines! such smoothness to the whole image! such super adorable costumes! ♥), I was definitely sunk. As for the FFIV art, it's definitely some of the better art I've seen for the fandom, the artist's Rydia is beautiful and her colors are just as awesome as the FFIII illustrations. There's really kind of a lot of detail here and they're just. They're GOOD fanart. Definitely one of the better sites for FF fans, I think. Plus. Omg, the one of Dark Knight!Cecil and little kidlet Rydia, helping her study! *flails* So cute! (No real warnings/pairings, at least not in any themes.)

- Final Fantasy III/Final Fantasy IV - Arcadine Fountain [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - About the only thing that was holding me back on this site, even for a little bit, was that I didn't know if there was quite enough art for me to recommend it. I was looking through the FFIV section and the art was really cute and pretty (there's one of Rosa that's just really lovely and I love the Kain illustrations *__*), but it wasn't until I started going through the FFIII log section that I was convinced. M-mostly because there's this one of the main group fighting the giant rat and practically shrieking away from it in terror (while they're all cute little mages!) and I love stuff like that. The art is super, super cute and really detailed and the artist has fun with their various costumes, so I had to cave on it. A small site, but a really kickass one! (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Final Fantasy IV - PM 4:30 [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I did go back and forth on this site a little bit, but... I'm weak to a couple of things. One, possible Cecil/Kain fanart when well done! Two, super cute oekaki-style art! There's not a ton here and most of it is oekaki-esque (so it may not be a site for everyone) but around the time I got to the sketches of Cecil/Kain together or Cecil with little kidlet Rydia under his cape or the pretty ones of Rosa, I was pretty well won over. You have to scout around a bit to find everything, but I thought it was a really cute, fun site. ♥ (....maybe some Cecil/Kain? It could be totally, totally gen, too.)

- Final Fantasy IV - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - You know, I started the night by looking for Final Fantasy III fanart and somehow wound up on a bunch of IV sites. Not that I'm really complaining. This is another site where you're going to have to poke around to find a lot of the art and where I think that a lot of what really won me over was the combined, sum total of the site's art, instead of individual pieces blowing me away. There's a lot of cute sketches and oekaki-style art here, a surprising amount of them, and I really like the soft, pretty colors the site uses. There's a lot of super-cute art of kidlet Rydia (and older Rydia as well) and some really interesting takes on Cecil. It's one of those sites where I'm really glad that I took the time to go through it, I feel a bit more satisfied with fandom now. (....nothing I'm really going to warn for.)

- Final Fantasy IV - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I feel like I've been to this site before, but I can't find it in my links, so maybe I just passed it by the first time, which I can see why I would, there's a lot of sexualization of Rydia (not that that doesn't often happen) and I may not have been in the right frame of mind for it the first time. What got me this time is that... I really like the various styles the artist tried out at different times, there are some cool different takes on Rydia's character. Plus, the sketches are really cute/pretty, the one of Dark Knight!Cecil watching kidlet Rydia cry in bed is... almost sweet, but really sad for that period in her life. The whole page of kidlet!Rydia illustrations is well done, actually, and I think it was worth the site alone for those images. ♥ Just. Overall, there's a solid amount of art and I like what the artist did here. (Some Edge/Rydia, but a lot more gen.)

- Final Fantasy IV - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site was rather difficult to navigate as well (I finally wound up just browsing month by month, then eventually day by day) but really worth it for me because the Rydia fanart is really pretty. It's almost a little chibi-esque (which works for me with this game) and a little bit sketchy, but in a pretty way--and when the artist does colors, they're these really subtle, lovely shades. The way she draws Rydia's hair is especially good, it's soft-looking and wavy and all over the place and I just really connected with her take on the character somehow. The pairing isn't my favorite, but if you like Rydia fanart, I think the site is totally worth it anyway. ♥ (Some Edge/Rydia, some gen.)

- Final Fantasy IV - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - FFIV tends to be a really small fandom, as far as I've found, so my approach to sites I'll stick around with and want to rec are going to be a little different from a bigger fandom, but... with sites like this, I might have not had as much patience with another fandom and I might have started skipping around, and then I might have missed some truly beautiful illustrations. Not everything on the site is perfect, but there's this one Kain illustration that's so soft and pretty that I fell instantly in love. There are also some SUPER cute Rydia illustrations that look fantastic with the artist's soft coloring and even the b&w illustrations get really detailed and pretty. There's one of Cecil - Kain - Rosa in the sketches section that I wouldn't have wanted to miss at all. There are a lot of sketches that are just beautifully done, actually, so this turned out to be one of the better FFIV sites I've seen. ♥ (Some Edge/Rydia, but a lot more gen.)

- Final Fantasy IV - Pure heart-romanticist [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - There isn't as much art on this site as I would have preferred, but I was immediately attracted to the bright, almost glossy colors with several of the illustrations and the super cute style. Plus, there's a Rosa/Rydia illustration! And Cecil/Kain implication in a lot of the images, I think? Both things that totally make my day, but it's also just that the artist does some really light, lovely stuff. The art is often times a bit sketchy, but in that way that I like, there's something really pretty about the lines the artist uses, especially her Kain. There's this one sketch (in the log section, #9) where Kain is just beautifully done, all that long hair and pretty features. That alone was worth the site right there, but the artist covers pretty much all of the main cast at some point. And! There are even comics! ♥ (Some Cecil/Kain, some gen.)

- Final Fantasy IV - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - There's not a lot of art here, there's only a handful of illustrations in the main gallery and then a handful of pages of sketches/log art, but what's here is really kinda cool, it's sort of almost like the character design art for the game, only prettier. It's not precisely a rough quality (except for with the sketches, which is to be expected, though they're still very very nice!) but there's that certain feel to it, something that fits well with the game. Also, the artist draws a really pretty Rosa and I hardly find much art for her at all! Her Kain and her Cecil are also pretty damn nice and I really like that she draws a lot of the main cast, instead of focusing on just one or two characters. What a lovely little treasure of a site to stumble over. :Db (No warnings/pairings.)

- Final Fantasy III/Final Fantasy IV/Final Fantasy VII/Final Fantasy XII - Gratitude [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This artist's style isn't going to be for everyone, it's very cutesy and the colors are really bright, but I'm often fine with that as long as the artist has a certain charm to the art that draws me in. And what this artist did was put a surprising amount of detail into her work, so Rydia's hair looks fantastic or Desch looks really good in the close up or the Ingus/Sara illustration is surprisingly adorable or what have you. And yeah the style is the big chest with the big head and little body, especially with Rydia, but I was so charmed by the watercolor style that I didn't care. The FFVII stuff actually looks way more stylized than anything, but I'm fine with that sometimes, too. And while each section may not have a ton of art (except FFVII XD), there was enough for me to justify it for each of these series. And while the site is mostly Cloud/Aerith, there was one Zack/Aerith photograph-style illustration that just totally made me coo, especially since Aerith's hair wasn't about to eat her head in that one. The FFXII art is less tightened up than the FFIII of FFIV art, it's about the same level as FFVII, but--! Basch/Ashe fanart--! So rare! And some of them are genuinely adorable! ♥ (No real warnings/pairings themes for FFIII. Some Edge/Rydia, some gen for FFIV. Some Cloud/Aerith, some gen for FFVII. Some Basch/Ashe, some Vaan/Penelo, some other for FFXII.)

- Final Fantasy IV - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I originally came to this site to look for Dissidia art, but got distracted by the FFIV art instead. It's... probably not going to be for everyone, but I'm weak to chibi art and stylized art, which this site blends in a really cute style. The colors are bright and slick, there's a decent amount here and occasionally something really great. Three of the elemental bosses in chibi form? a;sdlkjfalsjk so cute and kind of hilarious! Or super cute Palom and Porom! Adorable Ridia art! Pretty Cecil art! There's a certain smoothness to the lines that really makes it work for me and had me enjoying the entire site. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)
