I Only Pretend To Know Everything by copperbadge, steve/natasha, mildly nsfw, the winter soldier spoilers, 1.7k
Steve and Natasha find a little comfort in each other (and in Sam Wilson's guest bedroom).
Steve/Natasha fic mid-movie can sometimes be difficult to pull off, because neither are in a place for a relationship at the moment, but this fic balances friendship vs romance without needing to put a label on it and it felt very true to the characters. A lovely missing scene piece as they draw comfort from each other!

blue skies over bad lands by sevenfoxes, steve/natasha + bucky/natasha + steve/peggy + other marvel characters, natasha-centric, the winter soldier speculation fic, red room issues, 13.5k
The truth is that in the Red Room, there was no part of Natasha her that truly belonged to herself, so it had never bothered her to seduce men, to sleep with them. She had hurt herself, cut and burned her own flesh in pursuit of her missions. Her mind was the last fortress, and by the end, she had given over that as well. It was difficult to explain to the woefully unprepared psychologists trotted out before her that it hadn't hurt her in the least to sacrifice these things at the time, and even now, on the other side, she still carries few regrets. They are prices for war and survival. Natasha is only learning now how to make choices for herself, how to claim ownership over herself, her body, her desires. It is as foreign as first learning to walk or speak, stumbling along the way. The first time Natasha sleeps with Steve, it is a choice she makes for herself.
This is a stunning look at Natasha and her connection to the Red Room and Captain America and Winter Soldier and Peggy Carter, the complications between all of these characters as seen through the lens of the Black Widow. It's gorgeously told, there are so very many beautiful sharp edges, but it's also ultimately a story about Natasha learning who she wants to be, how her past shapes her, but she chooses herself and it's exquisitely crafted for that. I loved the use of Steve/Natasha here, it's utterly perfect for both characters and it may not be movie-compliant after Cap2, but the spirit of it is true. It's a must-recommend for me, both for being an amazing Natasha fic, but also for if you want more of these characters and the painful lives they lead and gorgeous writing that's subtle and yet hits like a freight truck all at the same time. GORGEOUS.

Three Step by copperbadge, steve/bucky/natasha + steve/natasha, NSFW, 4.9k
"How many times a week can a couple have a threesome with the same guy before it becomes some sort of three-way relationship?"
This was delightful as all hell, the perfect combination of Steve/Natasha (which is often necessary to balance this trio out, but also makes sense here and utterly sparkles) and Steve/Bucky/Natasha, the way the three of them navigate together and all stablize each other. The sex was delicious, but my favorite scene was Steve saying he and Natasha weren't missing anything together, that they were really good just the two of them, but they were even more with Bucky. Perfection. Add in sharp characterization (Steve's sense of humor! Natasha's bit of mischief! Bucky's exasperation! All things in just the right amount!) and a charming, funny, perfect ending and you've got a fic that was one of my favorites from my haul today!

Avengers/Captain America: Just Walk Beside Me by vidocqsociety - Steve and Natasha is one of those dynamics that I can't explain why I think it's such a fascinating mix, I just do. Something about them just seems very... stable and good for both of them, which is reflected in the developing friendship between them in this fic. It seems weird to those around them (especially Tony, which always made me smile when he was disgruntled at them), but somehow it just works for them. It's nothing big, of course it wouldn't be, just a series of scenes where they work well together in the field or are comfortable around each other and they give each other good advice, all of it nicely understated and perfect. (This is firmly gen, but Steve/Natasha fans may enjoy it as well.)

Avengers: what a smile means by musesfool - [Note: There are SPOILERS for The Avengers in this fic and this rec.] Look, I know okay. But something about the idea of this ship called to me, something that I couldn't quite put into words, not until I'd read this fic and it just nailed the buttons I wanted pushed. I have an intense love for the movie version of Natasha, she intrigued me so very much, and I wanted a strong presence to go with her, which Steve definitely has. But it's more than that, it's more about how... open and honest and genuine he is, how amazingly well that plays off who Natasha is. It's brilliant because he's so Steve Rogers about the attraction between them, he never presumes or asks for more, but neither does he hold back with her. And I can see why this draws her in, draws so much of herself out when she's around him. It's such a great look at both characters and the details that make up who they are and their lives, along with some really, really smoking hot sparring and sexytimes. This was pretty much everything I could have asked for from this ship and this fandom. (Steve/Natasha, NSFW.)

Avengers/Captain America: Moving The Furniture by copperbadge - [NOTE: There may be SPOILERS in this fic and this rec.] So, I definitely have a thing for Steve/Natasha and I'm not sure I could precisely say why, but, oh, this fic definitely hit whatever button it is that I have. I especially love this author's take on Steve, who is not quite what everyone thinks he is, even if he's still this really stand-up, direct, good person. I love this Steve who is very attracted to people but maybe doesn't really know how to talk to them when he's attracted to them, and Natasha notices something's off in the way they interact, and he eventually seeks her out and they work through it. It's gorgeously done, for both of them, how it is exactly what it is between them, neither expects more, but it also creates a special sort of friendship. And, oh, the sex is lovely between them and everything is just so perfectly in character that I feel satisfied with this fandom all over again. (Steve/Natasha, NSFW.)

Avengers/Captain America: when i offer you survival, you say it's hard enough to live by lanyon - Oh. I'm so, so hoping that this is a lot like how Captain America: The Winter Soldier will go, because it's a gorgeous combination of Steve and Natasha and Bucky. The Avengers go out on their usual missions, only someone else keeps getting there first and making their day easier, so the tension builds beautifully, especially as there's this sense of... something isn't quite balanced with Steve. Something just doesn't feel settled about him, something not quite right in his skin. And the fic is about the return of Bucky, what that means to Steve, and the way the two of them and Natasha just sort of fit together. This is a terrible rec, but the fic is absolutely gorgeous and I can't recommend it enough. (Steve/Natasha, Steve/Bucky, Steve/Bucky/Natasha.)
