- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - Dying Will by Vikki - So, I started reading Reborn!, right? (I'm only starting volume six now, though.) And Vikki was reading at the same time, so we started talking. And we both liked similar pairings and it was late and I was tired and I said, you know, that Dying Will bullet could totally be put to some really terrible uses and you know Gokudera would be totally down for that, and then she spun this fantastic fic out of it. Just. asd;lfkjal;skjflakjs AHAHAHAHA this is why people shouldn't let us out on the internet, but it's so great because it matches the humor of the manga so well and Reborn is so evil and I giggle just thinking about it. I probably shouldn't be reading Reborn! fic yet, but since you don't need to know much beyond the first few volumes, I think this one was safe enough. And so worth it. (Tsuna/Gokudera. A strong PG-13 indeed.)
- Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - Five Minutes in Heaven by Scuttlebutt Inc X - To be honest, I never expected to find much fic for Gokudera and Tsuna in the fandom that I actually liked (aside from the stuff I made people write myself ^_~), but this was utterly delightful. I'm not sure what I love more, Gokudera being such a total fangirl over Tsuna, especially when he's popped ten years into the future by accident and finds himself in bed with Tsuna, or when he's attempting to beat the shit out of Lambo. The Gokudera - Lambo interaction is perfect, it's genuinely funny and clever and could have come right out of the manga itself, right down to the tone and language used. Plus, it was a great use of the 10-years-later Bazooka and I really liked the take on an older Tsuna when Gokudera was with him, it struck me as being very much like how the Tsuna/Gokudera relationship would turn out. Also, did I mention that this fic is hilarious? Because it was. ♥ (Gokudera/Tsuna.) - Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - untitled by char_aznable - [Note: This fic is locked, but the comm is freely joinable if you want to read it.] I was a little wary of this fic at first, I wasn't sure the point in time the author chose to set it at (during Yamamoto's fight with Squalo) was the best place for it, since Tsuna was pretty focused on Yamamoto there, but... the further I read into the fic, the more the author was careful to have Tsuna feel guilty about that and it's not like he wasn't extremely worried about Yamamoto as well and, what really made it work for me, is that it's not like he'd had a lot of time to see Gokudera to make sure he was okay before that fight. And the rest of the fic was very, very nice, with Tsuna being worried and nervous and awkward but still pushing through, with Gokudera being spazzy and feeling he's not worthy and yet still wanting the Tenth so badly, and I love that it was decently long without feeling dragged out. The writing is also very nice in this fic, it just sailed smoothly right along, I didn't get twitchy or feel like I wanted to go check on some other things while reading at all, which tends to happen a lot with me. But this fic I read easily and it was just... I could see the whole thing happening. Very nice. (Tsuna/Gokudera.) - Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - The Thing About Pants by Enkidu - I clicked on this fic because I was curious to read a fic with Tsuna/Kyouko, since I always thought they were cute, and they are adorable here, but it's more on the level of what you'd find in canon. Except... ads;lfkalkajsdflkajs ahahahaha Gokudera is my favorite for reasons exactly like this, no matter how much I love other characters or focus on them, this is why I love Gokudera. Because he doesn't even think twice about it. Also, the ending (and the potential for what else Gokudera may very well have been capable of) are total LOL and I could just about see this coming right out of the manga itself. (Some Tsuna/Kyouko on the level of canon and Gokudera/Tsuna fans might enjoy as well.) - Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - Vulgar by Dual - I wouldn't have thought I would want to read an AU fic in this fandom, not for one I've spent such a short amount of time in so far, but... well, the sheer number of comments and my love of Tsuna and Gokudera got me to give this one a chance. And it's a really cool little AU, the author keeps the spirit of the characters and the great thing about this being a college AU fic is that it's not so focused on the college aspect of it as it is focused on the characters, who were actually very easy to see in this setting. Plus, the author's writing style is very smooth and easy to read, it was fun to read her style of humor, I couldn't put the fic down once I'd started to read. Excellent little fic. ♥ (Gokudera/Tsuna.) - Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - Chinko by Dual - This is another fic where, if I'd thought too much about the concept before actually reading it, I'm not sure what I would have thought of it. But actually reading the fic is delightful, it somehow works, because it would be a situation the Reborn! characters--especially Tsuna--would find themselves somehow ending up in. Tsuna's reactions to the situation around him, to blaming Reborn, to having Gokudera (even with Gokudera's special brand of crazy XD) so close to him while that plays on the TV, all of it was spot-on in characterization. I love that Gokudera never lost his spazflail over Tsuna, I love that the porn was just right for these two characters, and I really liked the author's writing style. (Gokudera/Tsuna.) - Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - Burn by villanelle_koi - For the last few fic links I've clicked on, I've been really pleasantly surprised by the amount of good Gokudera/Tsuna fics, I had been under the impression that it was a bit of a rare pairing in the fandom. And this was another lovely, if a bit heartbreaking, fic from Gokudera's point of view, where he plays the piano while going through a gamut of frustrated and angry and depressed emotions. It's lovely for the use of Gokudera's piano playing (which is something I really like about the character) and because the author is good at setting a tone for his mood, the writing is very lovely in this fic. It's a bit sad, but sometimes I like one-sided fics more than reciprocated fics because I'm not quite there yet with Tsuna's feelings, so exploring this possibility is still interesting to me. (One-sided Gokudera/Tsuna.) - Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - Reverie by resound - This is a sweet, gentle piece that sort of drifts from Gokudera's childhood memories of playing the piano with his mother singing along, the childish desperation to keep her there just for a few more notes, to a more adult Gokudera, who is stronger and can play the notes even better now and the author does a lovely job of bringing back those childish desires to keep the one he cares about close. It's one of those stories that seems like it wouldn't work for me in theory, but when the author writes it the way she does, it's a very sweet, lovely piece that made me love Gokudera and his love for Tsuna all the more. <3 (Gokudera/Tsuna.) - Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - Hello Darkness, My Old Friend by coomasieblue - You know, I picked this story out at random, I hadn't read REBORN! fic for over a month and I was just starting to go through old posts and I happened to stop on this one, intending just to skim the beginning. I was curious how Mukuro/Gokudera would work out. I wasn't expecting what I got and I'm not sure if I would have read it the same way if I'd known ahead of time how harsh this story was going to be, but I'm really glad I did. I'm not one much for non-con most of the time, but this was a fantastic look at Gokudera's character, not just about breaking him down, but instead showing what kind of core of steel he has underneath everything, that stubborn determination that gets him through life, the something unbreakable that he has, and the unshakable faith he has in the Vongola Tenth. I think that's the real treasure of this fic, that Gokudera might go through hell here, it might even end on a painful note, but this is Gokudera. He doesn't go down that easily. (Mukuro!Tsuna/Gokudera, hard R rating for content, very non-con.) - Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - Let's Not Talk of Love or Chains and Things We Can't Untie by coomasieblue - I had read another fic by the author (her Mukuro!Tsuna/Gokudera fic) and thought that was was fantastically written, so I wanted to get her fic with Gokudera and Tsuna as himself a shot and I'm so glad I did. It's fantastically written, the characterization of everyone here is spot-on and it's set in the future, as the Millefiore family are starting to put more and more pressure on the Vongola family and the author uses that well to create a tired and drained atmosphere. Everything the author sets out to achieve with this fic is accomplished by the end, it's one of the strongest pieces I've read in the fandom and one of those must-reads if you like the pairing, I think. Plus, bonus points for Tsuna topping! asd;fkljaslka yes plz, more of that fandom, please. ♥ (Tsuna/Gokudera, NC-17.) - Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - As Long as the Lights are Off by xinexpressiblex - I'd just finished reading the author's other fic and saw she'd written Gokudera/Kyoko and I was really wondering how that would work. It was short, so I clicked and what I got was a fantastic little piece set in the future after Tsuna's death, about how everything between them was about him instead of them. It was just fucked up enough and beautifully written that I loved it, it hit all the right notes for me. *__* (Gokudera/Kyoko, a very light R for content, implications of Tsuna/Kyoko and Gokudera/Tsuna.) - Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - Months by xinexpressiblex - Since I was reading the author's fic and there was another Gokudera/Tsuna fic listed, I had to give it a shot. It's just a little over 300 words, but it's just the right length for what it is--a cute, fluffy little ficlet where Gokudera is practically exploding with overeagerness to touch Tsuna. Very, very cute. <3 (Gokudera/Tsuna.) Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: A Beginning and an End, Reversed by dual_avi - There is something about this line: The world is ash, his heart a whithered thing. that really caught me with this fic, there's something almost tranquil about this fic, the way it moves from such a languid day to Tsuna's death and the way it's shown all through Gokudera's pov. I like the way it almost feels kind of dead on the inside once Tsuna's gone and the build up to the end, where canon picks back up again is really nicely done. (Gokudera/Tsuna, a light R for content.) Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Squeeze by tearstreak - What I liked about this fic was a couple of things--the writing is very smooth and clean, it just sailed right along and I liked the imagery the author used. The other is that... with a lot of pairings, this kind of take on a character (the way Gokudera was so wound up in Tsuna's spell, how affected he was by Tsuna) wouldn't work for me, but the way this author did it with a character like Gokudera, it worked for me. It's a short scene, but it's one of those intimate little moments between the characters and a sweet scene for these two. (Gokudera/Tsuna.) Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Lorelei DiAngelo - There's something really pretty about the writing of this fic, the way Gokudera moves through his life and the feelings he has for Tsuna and the way he deals with them. Gokudera's such a rough character, there's so little finesse to the way he does things, and I liked how the author kept that, how she kept the more humorous moments (like his reactions to Bianchi) even though this is a serious piece--I liked that Gokudera does have all these serious, painful emotions and history and he tends to hide it with all the spazzing and no one really taking him that seriously in canon, except when you get into his POV, there's so much going on. ....I'm explaining this badly. But it's a really nicely detailed and complicated look at Gokudera, his life and his feelings for Tsuna and just generally what makes him tick. (One-sided Gokudera/Tsuna.)
