- Saiunkoku Monogatari/Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - First things first, thank you to Tammaiya for helping me out with the Saiunkoku search engine so I could better search through the sites. Second, OMG YAY JAPAN LOVES ME AGAIN. See, I really love Shuuei/Kouyuu but I also really love Reishin/Kouyuu and kind of wanted it desperately. So when this site came along, with its gorgeous standalone character art and then a handful of really pretty Reishin/Kouyuu art, I was sent into fits of fangirl happiness. FITS OF FANGIRL HAPPINESS. Seriously, the art is so pretty and the art hits all the right tones with Kouyuu being such a hissing wet cat or surpisingly vulnerable in that way he has. There's also a surprising amount on the site, you can find a lot tucked away in the junk section. The site has one of the prettiest Ryuuren images I've seen, some fabulous Ran brothers art, and some very nice group art. Overall, the site probably would have been one of my favorites just for the skill of the artist, but the Reishin/Kouyuu put it over the top, definitely. ♥ As for the HaruToki3 fanart, it was very solid and often very pretty; the artist has a way with these bright, almost airy colors that I really like. I admit, I was more bowled over by the Saiunkoku art, but the HaruToki3 art is really nice and definitely worth a whirl through the site for. (Some Reishin/Kouyuu, some other het, some other yaoi, a lot of gen. HaruToki is a mix of various yaoi/het pairings and gen.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - There's not a whole lot of art here, but I was immediately impressed with how beautiful all of it was. Each illustration was just lovely, the pretty, almost glowing colors and the solid skill of the artist, all of it fabulous. But it was also that the artist drew Ryuuki/Shuurei in modern day clothing or made me absolutely fawn over a Kouyuu/Shuurei illustration or nearly trip over myself for her kidlet!Kouyuu or the beautiful, beautiful one of Shuurei and Ryuuren. It's one of those sites that I think will end up being one of the best in fandom. ♥ (A lot of het, but no single theme.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Whoa, I think Shuuei was paired with nearly every single character in the series on this site. XDDD Some of the pairings were a bit random, but I couldn't help recommending the site anyway, because Shuuei/Seiran might be strange, but the artist draws it beautifully once she gets going. The early art on the site isn't nearly as strong as the later stuff, but by the time you're finishing up the gallery proper, the artist has totally gotten good. But the site was also worth it for the really hot Shuuei/Kouyuu oekaki and the one of Reishin getting out his fan of bitchiness to nearly whack Shuuei in the face with it. (Which I choose to believe is about Kouyuu, yes. ^_~) The site was enjoyable, there was a lot of crack here, but a lot of pretty stuff, too. Especially recommended for Shuuei fans. XD (Shuuei/everyone, but particularly Shuuei/Kouyuu and Shuuei/Seiran.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - It really didn't take long at all for me to be won over by this site despite that I wasn't sure I was going to like the chibi-esque style at first. But the artist drew such cute little characters (with a surprising amount of detail to make them still pretty, not just cute), had such a fun sense of humor (Kouyuu and Reishin dressed up for Christmas was adorable!) and drew a nice variety of the cast while still giving Reishin and the rest of the Kou family plenty of focus. I'm clearly developing a thing for him and this site totally helped feed that. There's also a lot of art tucked away in various galleries, enough to leave me a puddle of cooing fangirl mess afterwards. AND THE FLASH COMICS ARE SO CUTE OMFG. So, so much love for this site. (It's pretty gen, but there's a nice balance between Kou family and the entire cast. ♥)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - Estrellita [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Pretty much from the first b&w illustration I saw of Reishin watching over Kouyuu, I was a little bit in love with this site. The artist does gorgeous black and white art, such sharp lines and great shading that really makes everything look so vivid. Not that her color art is bad, either--she's got this one Ryuuki/Shuurei image that's soooo pretty. And then a beautiful one of Kouyuu in color wwith a great look of trauma/horror on his face that I loved instantly. She does a gorgeous everyone, really, all of her drawings are beautiful, but... oh, man, hitting the one of younger Seien and little!Ryuuki who is all scuffed and still smiling... new favorite Saiunkoku fanart ever, seriously. A gorgeous, gorgeous site, one of the best of fandom, I'm positive. *fangirly happy sigh* (Some het, a lot of gen.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - 362 [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is actually one of the first Saiunkoku sites I stumbled over (that I'm just getting around to recommending now) and it was one of the first to really impress me (as well as show me just how terrible I was with recognizing characters with their hair down). The artist has this really pretty, light, lovely style that's frequently sketch-like but that somehow works for her and the colors she uses--which are often these light purples and blues that are some of my favorites. And her Shuuei/Kouyuu is totally hot, she gives them all these details like their hair in their eyes that's just this side of messy and I looooove that. Totally a fantastic site with a ton of prettypretty art. ♥ (Mostly Shuuei/Kouyuu, but implications of other het/yaoi if you're looking for it.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - Sa-Ne-Ga [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I sort of debated on this site for awhile, since not all the art bowled me over, but... well, I'm easy when there are even just a handful of illustrations on the site that impress me. There's one of Kouyuu shirtless with his mouth open in a totally suggestive pose that was way hotter than it should be. And then there was one of Ryuuki turned away from the viewer that was just... really pretty. The artist definitely has promise, I'd like to see more from her and she does really nice stuff with the couples art here as well. (Shuuei/Kouyuu, Seiran/Tantan.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - Colors [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - It didn't take me long at all to be won over by this site, as I have a strong weakness against chibi cuteness. Which the artist totally preys on, because she draws these adorable little characters, totally hitting me with the cute and making it impossible to resist, especially her little chibi Kouyuu or her little chibi Reishin. (Which I may have had a weakness to before I hit up the site, hm.) The art's not perfect, but... there's a little chibi Kouyuu with glasses. Like the art needs to be perfect when you have that! It's nice that the artist draws quite a lot, so it took some time to go through the gallery, which always makes me more apt to like a site, especially if they draw pretty much all the characters at some point or other. Also. Seriously. Chibis so cute. <3 (Maybe some implications of popular pairings, but it looks mostly gen to me.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - tamayura [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Man, this site is just so damn pretty, the artist has this great style with all these warm, golden colors and tons of detail woven in, and hints of a shoujo-esque style, but not so much that it overwhelms the image, so that each piece comes out looking just... rich and lovely. Which doesn't surprise me, poking around the rest of the artist's site, she was the one who did all that Furuba fanart that was so mind blowingly awesome back in the day. Her Saiunkoku stuff is fabulous as well--I honestly can't decide if I like her Ryuuki/Shuurei fanart (which you can tell she has just so much love for, it shines through with each image) or her standalone Seiran illustrations (because they're just so damn gorgeous) or even her Hakumei art (because her style suits him so well). Not that I really have to choose because the artist seems to really like drawing Shuurei with the various cast memebers and, okay, maybe I'm just kind of weak to Kouyuu/Shuurei because I like them both so much, but it's nice to see pretty art for them. For the entire cast, really. And omg more Kouyuu in glasses SO HOT YES. ♥ (Mostly Ryuuki/Shuurei, but some other/Shuurei het and a goodly amount of gen.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I'm still not entirely sure I'm browsing this site correctly, but... well, if nothing else, I've found a lot of art that's just fabulous and I'm trying very hard not to squeak with love over here. The artist does especially well with profile art for the characters and so when she had this one of Reishin and Kouyuu outside or samples pages from a beautiful doujinshi with younger!Kouyuu and then tons of scraps and snippets tucked away in various corners with a wider variety... well, it fulfilled my need for a Kouyuu fix and my desire to see more art of the rest of the characters. I had to be fond of the site just for that. But mostly I think I really liked the site for their anime-style illustrations of the characters, there's a gorgeous one of Reishin in there that I totally loved. Though, man, if j-artists keep up with the pretty Seiran/Shuurei, I may actually have to start shipping it, hm. (Mostly Shuuei/Kouyuu, a little Seiran/Shuurei, I'm going to pretend I can squint and see Reishin/Kouyuu, and a little other, a little gen.)

- Final Fantasy VII/Death Note/Saiunkoku Monogatari - Twilight Chronicle [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I originally came here looking for Saiunkoku Monogatari fanart and happened to stumble into the games section first... where I found some awesome FFVII fanart. Some of them are really pretty, the artist's Elena is lovely and I even liked the Reno/Elena despite it not being my usual pairing. It's hard to complain when the art is this pretty. But what the site totally owns at is stuff like... well, Kadaj and Marlene arguing about who gets to sleep with Nii-san and Cloud's expression being the BEST THING EVER. ♥ And I had to recommend the Death Note section of this site because there is L fanart with kidlet!Near and kidlet!Mello crawling all over him and it's the CUTEST THING IN THE WORLD HOLY CRAP. There's also a fanart of L and Misa and I'm going to squint and pretend that it's maybe a pairing one, shut up. ANYWAY. Saiunkoku fanart. OMG. B&w sketches that totally own at cuteness and I was digging the artist drawing so many different characters and so much cuteness or amusement when I got to That One Image. You know the one that totally owns you on a site and you can only keyboard mash in love? Yeah. Seien and Shuuei carrying their sleeping little brothers and looking sheepish about it and I was all, ".....ads;flkjasdlf;jka, I LOVE YOU, SAIUNKOKU." at that. ♥ ....the irritated!Reishin covering sleeping kidlet!Kouyuu with a blanket as he was slumped over a pile of books may have owned me a little, too. Holy crap, I love this site so much. ♥_♥ (Some het for FFVII, mostly Reno/Elena and a smidge of Cloud/Tifa, but a lot of gen. Death Note gen. Some het implications for Saiunkoku, some cast/OFC, a lot of gen.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I hesitated over this site for about thirty seconds and then promptly kind of went *squee* over the adorably cute Eigetsu/Kourin fanart (which seems to be semi-popular...?) and it was downhill from there. The artist also does an adorably cute Shuurei and a lot of really fun oekaki--which is more about the cumulative effect of the site rather than each indivudual illustration, but... it's still a very satisfying, very cute site. The art is often chibi-esque or outright chibi, but that just makes it cuter, really. There's even an oekaki board with more cute art tucked away in it and I'm totally all over this artist's cute Eigetsu and her cute Kouyuu (but when am I not? XD) and her cute Shuurei and she's kind of making me like the idea of Eigetsu/Kourin. All in all, a good site. (Some Eigetsu/Kourin, a lot of gen.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I'm not sure when exactly I was won over by this site or even why, except that... there's something really cute and sweet about the art style. It helps that it's light and airy, the kind of art I'm totally easy for, but it's also that there's a certain... obvious affection for the series coming through. Maybe it's the adorable expressions she puts on her characters, maybe I just think her Kouyuu is adorable, maybe the multi-page comic with Ryuuki softened me up because her smiling!Ryuuki will break your heart and make you happy at the same time. Or, hell, it could even be that there's a Kouyuu/Shuurei illustration on the site, which is quickly becoming my "it'd never happen in this lifetime, but if Kurou got his way...." pairing that's intriguing the hell out of me. And OMG. Ryuuki's reaction in the 4koma thing to finding that Kouyuu/Shuurei "doujin"!!! Beautiful. (Some het implications, but mostly gen.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I sort of waffled on this site for awhile, it wasn't quite to my taste, except I did sort of like the soft, almost pastel colors the artist was using. But then. Man, then I got to the image of crossdressing!Kouyuu (I think?)(and with Heisuke, I assume?) who looked just so thrilled about it that I kind of fell in love. So, naturally, I had to keep going through the gallery, which is how I got to the black & white lineart/sketches and... you know, either they're more recent or the style lets the author's skill show a lot more easily because the b&w stuff is pretty as all get out. And I just... totally enjoyed this site a ton, there was so much fun art to be found! Little!Kouyuu still totally owns me--there are a couple of hit arts with Reishin and little Kouyuu and holy christ how is one kid so damn cute!? I just want to hug him for an hour, that's all, I swear. ♥ (Some het implications like Kouyuu/Shuurei and Heisuke/Shuurei, but a lot of gen, too.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Oh, man, this site does a beautiful Kouyuu. I'm guessing that he's her favorite because even when she draws the others well, often times they're just a smidge off, but Kouyuu... Kouyuu looks totally awesome in her cel-style images. She does start out a little shakey, but by the time you get to the end of the gallery, she's got these gorgeous ones of Kouyuu in profile or sleeping over a pile of books (I kind of melted into a puddle of goo at that one) or a cute Kouyuu & Shuurei one or prettypretty Ryuuki with his hair blowing in the wind or some fabulous oekaki or the multi-page comic with the cutest expressions and... well, yes. I really liked this site a lot. I'm totally hoping she draws more soon. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - K.ip [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I am weak to several things when it comes to j-fanart, but one of the things I'm weakest for overall is sprites. And this site has SAIUNKOKU SPRITES YAAAAY. They are totally adorably cute and... and... is that baby!Shuurei? Because, if so, I just had a cuteness attack. The rest of the site is cute, there are some fun doodles and some really cute regular art (especially of Kouyuu ♥) that gets better and better as the artist goes along. She does that soft, pretty, almost pastel coloring that I like so much, which makes some of the art just beautiful. There's just enough to make this a really satisfying site overall, too. So much love. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site can be very sketch-like with this artist's style, but... I find that I actually really kinda like that here. The artist uses it well when it comes to the Saiunkoku characters' hair, so it looks messy but still so very pretty--there's this one beautiful one of Ryuuren that I love so very much--and their clothes drape quite nicely. Add to that that the artist drew several comics with Reishin, seems to have a fondness for Kouyuu, I think there are some Kouyuu/Shuurei illustrations on the site, that the artist doesn't focus too much on one single character/pairing instead drawing just about everyone at some point, and that there's a solid amount of art here, it made the site a treasure to go through. Lovely work, despite this lackluster rec. ♥ (No single pairing theme/no warnings.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari/Haruknaru Toki no Nakade - Egotistic Syndrome [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This artist's Harutoki fanart starts out kind of shakey, but picks up a lot by the time you get to her current art. She does very CG-style stuff, but that makes her colors look really nice and since her Saiunkoku stuff seems to be newer (while this does mean there's less of it, but still a decent amount!) it shows in the progress she's made. Not everything knocks my socks off, but the site is worth it for the one gorgeous Ryuuren illustration alone, it came together fabulously for her. Also, there's a preeeeeeetty one of Hisui in the kiriban gallery that is also worth going to the site for. So. Overall, a good, solid site that gave me a fix for two series I love. <3 (No real warnings/pairing themes.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - rich coloring [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site slowly, slowly won me over. The art was cute at first, but I tend to be a little bit wary of b&w-only site, especially if they're more sketches than anything. But some artists can make that style work for them and something about this one... something about it is just so darn CUTE that I couldn't resist. ....okay, part of it is that I was won over by the image of Reishin and kidlet!Kouyuu who was so cute I could just scoop him up and snuggle him for an hour straight. Then it was pretty Shuurei and adorable Ryuuki and lots of cute sketches of just about all the main cast and then there was the handful of color art where there was a beautiful Ryuuren illustration and just... yeah, cute, fun site. I enjoyed it. :D (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Again. Not a lot of art here. And a lot of what is here is b&w (or colorized) lineart. But the lines are so clean and professional looking (at least on certain images) that I just instantly fell in love. The artist's images are either SO CUTE or SO PRETTY and she has this collection of chibi art that just kills with the cute--Ryuuki wagging a puppy tail at Shuurei, little tiny Shuurei hugging Seiran, little tiny Eigetsu reading a scroll, little chibi Ryuuren wandering around with his head in the clouds, it's such a quitely fabulous little site. Or maybe it's just me that loves it so far, but... I dunno, maybe I've been browsing too many Saiunkoku sites and I'm starting to get really easy. Either way! :D (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Like a lot of the sites I'm recommending today, this one took me a bit to warm up to, the artist's style is a bit stylized for my taste (yet I can be won over with this, obviously XD), but... yeah, okay, I caved when I got to the one of Reishin holding little kidlet!Kouyuu protectively while still wearing the most bored/uninterested look on his face while Kouyuu looks up at him with a weird look and it was perfect, because that's them in a nutshell right there. I would comb entire sites just for one illustration like that... which I imagine is quite obvious by now. The rest of the site is cute as well, though, the artist's style grew on me a lot, and she draws some hilarious stuff. Very fun. XD (Some yaoi pairings, but no real themes/favorites.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I... am develping a strange fascination with the Kouyuu/Shuurei pairing. I'm not sure why, since I don't think they feel that way about each other and yet... given how I've seen nearly as much Kouyuu/Shuurei fanart as I have Shuuei/Kouyuu fanart, I'm starting to wonder just what it is that all the j-fen see in it. And it's... I don't know! I think it's just that I'm willing to pair Kouyuu with just about anyone because I find him so fascinating. And this site was just cute enough that it piqued my interest again, the artist occasionally doing some rather cute stuff. There's one of Kouyuu eating an orange (tangerine, maybe?) with this supririnsly adorable look on his face and it was right about then that I knew I was going to have to cave on this site. I just... I'm weak, okay? (A little Kouyuu/Shuurei, a lot of gen.)

- Saiunkoku Monogatari - RedPeach [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - So, I'm looking for Tales of Vesperia art and somehow I end up on a... Saiunkoku Monogatari site? aslkdjfl;wkj wtf? Not that I really mind, the site started out with a cute Kouyuu illustration and, well. That's certainly the way to get my attention. <3 There's also a fair amount of Reinshin here and a few very nice Shuuei illustrations and... it's not really a massive site (though, there's a lot of sketches/oekaki/etc. in the log sections) but it was a nice reminder of the fandom and how much I really do like it. I had fun. <3 (No real warnings/pairing themes.)
