- Weiss Kreuz - Here's to the Night and How You Remind Me - by P.S. Speare - Damn. Okay, I like the idea of SchuldichxKen; I don't know why I do, but I do. But it's not something you see too often, and I don't think I've yet read one that I really and truly believed. This one, however... damn. I do wonder at the events that must have taken place to get Schuldich and Ken into bed together the first time, and I'm not sure how much I believe that it could happen (not having written that part, I'm not judging ^_^), but everything that's in the story, I find to be dead-on in terms of their characters. Ken was perfect. Schuldich was perfect. Their interaction ws just fucking perfect. And I'm going to try to stop using the word "perfect" so damn much.
I don't want to babble too much about these stories, but I do want to get across how cool they were, because they got me to believe something I didn't really think was possible. Even if you don't like the pairing, you should give these two a shot. (SchuldichxKen.)
- Weiss Kreuz - Cat Got Your Tongue? by Generic Miko - I probably shouldn't like this one as much as I do, but for some reason I found myself looking past the humiliating, deliberately cruel, and degrading sex. I think a large part of my ability to do so was because it was supposed to be that way, and I could believe the characters (It may not be my favorite characterization of Schuldich, but I can believe it if it's done right) would behave in such a manner. (With so many fics in this genre--rape/purposely humiliating sex--I hate the fics because I don't believe there's a chance in hell the characters would act the way they do.)
But the other part of liking it was that it was just written really well, especially Ken's little moments of interaction with all the other members of Weiss. Omi being concerned, Yohji dragging him off to help him scream some of the frustration out of his system, Aya being his usual grumpy self but still managing to show he cares. And I did *heart* Aya in this fic. The last scene between him and Ken just made the fic for me. (SchuldichxKen.)
- Weiss Kreuz - Tiger's Eye: Breaking Up the Girl by Yasmin M - Oooh, I fell in love with Yasmin's writing after reading her angsty "Aya beats the crap out of Ken in an abusive relationship, and Yohji talks to an unconscious Ken in the hospital" fic. It made my heart hurt, but at the same time sit in awe of the raw power the fic had. So when I saw she was writing a Schuldich/Ken-centric AU, I pounced on it, and it's gooooood. Ken and Schuldich sniping at each other is so much fun, the little details of the AU are woven wonderfully into the story without being overbearing and feeling forced, and the story has made me terribly curious about where it's going. I want more now. (Schuldich/Ken and Kase/Ken.)
- Weiss Kreuz - Playing the Part by Deena - Wow, normally, even when I love a story a lot, I can only read about 60 or 70k of one thing at a time before having to check out something else for a bit. (Part of it is also that I like to enjoy the long stories, really savor them), but with this story I sat down to read part one and didn't stop until I'd read everything posted. This was just... fun. It's an AU, so the characterizations are way off from canon a lot of times, but they retain a lot of themselves, so most of them aren't completely unrecognizable. I admit, the various multitude of odd slang threw me several times, but after awhile that became part of the story's charm. There were so many points when I was giggling or just smiling happily because this was such a fun story (I was particularily amused by Ken and Farfello's interaction), but I actually found myself caught up in the more serious moments, too. *sigh~* I'm actually conflicted over this story... do I pull for the super-rare (and, in this case, well-done) Schuldich/Ken? Or do I dig my heels in and pull for the RanKen and Crawford/Schuldich that holds my heart so tightly? At any rate, I need more of this story, yes, I dooo~. (Schuldich/Ken, Aya/Ken, Crawford/Schuldich, some Yohji/Ken, Yohji/Omi, Farfello/Nagi.)
